Job description

Have you ever thought about where a wardrobe, bed or dining table comes from? True, from a furniture shop, but first they must be manufactured – and a cabinet maker will certainly have been involved.

They build furniture, manufacture packaging, windows, doors, stairs, slats or frames, and even restore shops, homes and caravans. It is a very interesting career that always focusses on timber.Working with wood is great fun because timber has a life of its own and can be used in many ways. When you walk across a wooden floor barefoot, you can feel the warmth radiating from this natural product. And anyone who has smelt a freshly sawn shelf or plank knows why wood is something truly special. As a cabinet maker, you will learn to work with wood.
